Winning something other than first place (second, third, etc.)—and being happy about it—can represent excelling or doing well. Perhaps you feel that you are excelling, or you would like to do so. Being unhappy about winning something other than first place can mean you’re feeling less than perfect, criticizing yourself or comparing yourself to others too much, are too competitive or too hard on yourself, or are focusing too much on outer “accomplishments” instead of the true inner ones.
